We Made It Counting Inches Across Canada!

A final report on the Counting Inches across Canada..... drumroll please....
 WE MADE IT!

Yes, we were able to accumulate enough inches to travel from Lethbridge, AB to Toronto, ON (actually Mississauga, ON) where Quilt Canada 2016 is about to start in less than a week.
Looking forward to seeing all the wonderful quilts in the National Juried Show, Invitational Show, Trend-Tex Challenge and many more quilts on display to see. There's merchants/vendors to visit, workshops to take, lectures to be at - so much to see and do June 15-18, 2016 at the International Centre!

Black Gold Quilt Patch Guild didn't have time to count the inches of their
60 of 215 quilts that have been made for the Fort MacMurray residents.

Thanks to all the guilds who participated this year and especially all those guild members who took the time to count the inches and then send them in to be counted!  Quilters are the best!

Counting Inches #5

What an amazing response this month!

We’ve made it just past Sault Ste. Marie, ON and are on the last leg of the trip! Should arrive in good time for Quilt Canada 2016 at the International Centre for June 15-18th.
Maybe we can take a look around at all the places to see, and things to do that Toronto has to offer. Or maybe visit a quilt shop or two - just to get in the spirit of fabric and quilting.

Quilt Canada 2016 is going to be the place where the quilt action is!  The vendors in the biggest Merchant Mall we have ever had are all listed here! Lectures and workshops galore! The National Juried Show will have over 100 quilts of Canada's finest works of art, and there are other superb quilt shows as well!

The 47 guilds/groups reporting inches have outdone themselves this year. All those charity quilts have helped get us as far as we have. It’s so great to hear of the inch counts that come from these charity quilts - great job!

Keep sending your inches to Marilyn at marilyn_cqa@vaxxine.com . A picture or two of some of your Show & Tell/Share and charity quilts would be great as well.

Counting Inches #4

You are doing great counting the inches across Canada!

With all those quilt measurements tabulated, we made it to the outskirts of Thunder Bay, ON. We are well on our way to Toronto for Quilt Canada 2016 at the International Centre June 15-18th.

Great job to everyone who has been checking in! We now have 44 guilds/groups from all across Canada participating. There have been a lot of reports of quilts being made for various charities. This is the best news!

Although some guilds have reported a lower number of inches than in the fall (mainly because of snowbirds who go away to quilt and of course, soak up the sun), we have still managed to almost get as far as expected. We are right on track for an arrival just in time for Quilt Canada 2016.

So keep sending in those inches to Marilyn at marilyn_cqa@vaxxine.com.

Counting Inches #3

Great news!

After totaling up the inches from December and January meetings, we are able to announce that we’ve made it as far as Winnipeg, MB. This is amazing as there were some guilds who didn’t have a meeting in December.

It’s a good thing we are making progress. Going through these COLD months (and also the colder provinces right now), we sure need all those quilts to keep warm!

Don’t forget to send your inches to Marilyn at marilyn_cqa@vaxxine.com. We'd like to make it to Toronto in time for Quilt Canada 2016!

You Asked For It!

We were contemplating retiring the 'count your inches' across the country but the overwhelming response from our members and guilds to continue had us beat! We are doing it again!

We are travelling from Quilt Canada 2015 - Lethbridge AB to Quilt Canada 2016 in Toronto, ON.

Our journey is 3,627 km or a whopping 142,806,299 inches!

At your guild meetings, measure the inches around the perimeter of your quilt during your Show and Share or on your charity quilts. Send the total of those inches to our awesome volunteer Marilyn Michelin at marilyn_cqa@vaxxine.com.
We do want to see what you are quilting, so please send a picture or two and a sentence describing it so we can use it on social media!

We are super excited to do it once again, albeit a little stressed that we are starting late so may not make it.. and that would devastate us! We are counting on you to count alot of inches! Get quilting!
