Hi there!
My name is Jackie White and as of July 1st, 2012 I will be joining the CQA/ACC Board of Directors. When the opportunity came up to help out with the CQA/ACC blog, I jumped at the chance! I have my own blog and absolutely love doing it. I have 'met' some of the greatest people in the world and can honestly call them dear friends. It has been a wonderful experience and I hope to have as much fun on this blog with all of you!
Until I really get my feet wet as to exactly how I am to run this blog, I thought I would showcase a few Canadian blogs for you to peruse through.
The Needle and Thread Network is a Canadian blog run by my dear friend Monika. Her 'Prairie Dress' was just in the NJS in Halifax. She has opportunities for you to see what many other Canadians are working on every Wednesday. I look after the Call for Entry page, to let you know what shows are out there for you to enter.
Judy Martin, just won an award at the recent National Juried Show in Halifax. She is a very well known art quilter who excels in hand work and putting a modern twist on traditional work.
Anna Hergert who has had her work accepted into many many shows is a lovely lady who does fabulous workshops and lectures, and currently co-runs the judging program for CQA/ACC.
Elaine Quehl is a wonderful Canadian teacher and lecturer. Her work has been published, won awards and is loved by all. How she can make the hosta plant look life like with fabric is beyond words. She also just won an award at the NJS.
Go and check out these wonderful Canadian blogs, and if you like them, be sure to 'follow' so you don't miss any of their wonderful work. Please check back here often as there will be constant updates on Quilt BC and lots of fun quilting tips and tidbits to keep you motivated and inspired.

Welcome to Quilt BC 2013
Ogopogo is waiting to meet you!
Distinguished as a world class destination, Penticton is an ideal location to create memories. Located on a gentle rolling plain between the clear waters of Lake Okanagan and Skaha Lake, Penticton boasts over 3.5 km (2 miles) of sandy public beaches and access to a variety of year round recreation and sport opportunities. Okanagan Lake is one of British Columbia's best known and largest warm water lakes. The lake is over 120 km long and connects the three major urban centres of Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton. Okanagan Lake has also gained an international reputation as the home of the famous lake monster 'Ogopogo'. Skaha Lake, located at Penticton's south end, is over 24 km long and also offers warm waters to enjoy.
Penticton is a unique and popular conference site offering a multitude of activities and cultural attractions.
Set in the beautiful Okanagan Valley, Penticton offers unparallelled mountain valley scenery, with all the amenities national association members expect from a conference destination. In addition, Canadian Geographic has reported Penticton as one of Canada’s driest, sunniest and mildest cities. Average daytime temperatures in mid-May range between 20-24 Celsius, 68-76 Fahrenheit.
Just before the start of our conference, the Spring Wine Festival for 2013 will be on from May 6-13, with special events happening everywhere. Encourage your friends and relatives to come along. Take a side trip on your own and enjoy the breathtaking views in the valley. Tour the famous Summerland Research Centre Gardens, enjoy a spa day or the Mascot Gold Mine Tour and the Kettle Valley Steam Railway. Don’t forget the Desert Centre and Heritage Grist Mill Tour. But there is more to enjoy by bringing your golf clubs to enjoy the beautiful and plentiful golf courses in the area.
The Penticton Trade and Convention Centre is situated just two blocks from the spectacular sandy beaches of Lake Okanagan. Penticton prides itself on its hospitality, and service to all of those in attendance.
Most quilters love food and the Ovations Food Services specializes in using local produce to create unique culinary options that easily pair with the vast selection of internationally acclaimed wines available in the area. Our final banquet will be delightful with very special entertainment.
Some additional features:
The facility has a wide array of temporary power configurations to accommodate a full matrix of solutions for all our conference needs.
Eight additional meeting rooms and our Executive boardroom are all located on the same level.
600 complimentary parking spaces.
Wireless high speed Internet available throughout the facility.
Convenient loading docks with drive-in ability for our Merchant Mall in Ballroom II.
LCD video displays for conference information and directional signage.
What more could we ask for in this beautiful and comfortable setting. All events will be held at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre for easy access.
Hotel rooms will be reserved for your reservations at the Coast Hotel and Sandman Inn which provide a very short walk to the Centre. Come early or stay later to enjoy all the events available in the area.
Watch for further announcements and online registration to reserve your space.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
